Quick smokes, we all love & need them. We can’t always dedicate a hour or so to a good smoke. So what to do on the ride home from work, or the store? I decided to try the Montecristo Platinum Habano #5.
I won’t lie, I felt a little emasculated with this little guy. I personally prefer cigars to be at least a Robusto size (5 inches, with a 50 gauge ring), but since the point of this was a quick smoke, I can swallow a little pride. This dark cigar is wrapped in a Mexican Cubano leaf, with a strong rich flavor apparent before you light it up. It consists of a blend of Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian long-leaf fillers. It lit up nicely & burned smoothly, and the Mexican leaf gave it a nice spicy bite. The initial draw was a little loose, but that changed after about 5 minutes. The only other downside is that about 2 inches in, it started to burn a little unevenly. I will give it another try since I was driving with the top down, and that may have affected it a bit. (Oh the hard work I must endure!)

Smaller then most smokes in my Humidor, but tasty for a little guy.
Something for the Joe’s to talk about: Stronger & fuller bodied then most Montecristos, many have compared this to the original Cuban line.
Size: #5, 4 inches with ring gauge of 45.
Time needed: A nice strong little smoke that takes about a half hour.
Shelf Rating: 3/5 points for the Average Joe (if it burned evenly it would have been a 3.5)
Price: $2 to $4/ $50 to $100 a box
